Happy Halloween
Happy Halloween from 'Down Unda'! The whole Star Wars theme just kind of happened.... I'm not even much of a fan... Walking the streets of our town as Princess Leia was a bit embarrassing but the kids loved it. I think I received as many comments and fans as cute little Yoda! They do not do Halloween here like we do back at home but the kids still had fun and came home with a little bit of candy!
Taronga Zoo
Day two and we all piled in the van (to drive on the wrong wide of the road!) and headed to the zoo! The Taronga Zoo is amazing! They of course have all the basic must see Australian animals and then some. The best part though is that it's built into a big hill which means gorgeous views of the harbor and of Sydney!

First Day Down Under
What else do you do your first few hours in Australia? Check out the beach, of course! We have a beach, Balmoral Beach, just a few minutes from our house. It was a little chilly but beautiful and just right for dipping our toes in the water!

1 Year 'Diaversary"
Today is Ashton's 1 year 'Diaversary'. One year ago today our lives changed forever. Since that day we have pressed on. I can't believe it has been a year. Everything about this disease sucks and we hate that our sweet little guy has to deal with it. Diabetes has become our new norm but it has not gotten us down! Today Ashton is a happy and healthy (at least on the outside) little boy! This disease is constantly on our minds but we do not let it stop us or Ashy.... These laundry detergent bottles are filled with a year's worth of needles. That's approximately 1,500 insulin pen needles and 1,500 lancet needles (finger pricks).

Australia or Bust!
What a loooong day and flight!! It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be and at the same time it was a nightmare! The kids were actually really amazing through all of it, such troopers! Thankfully the company flew us Business Class so we slept most of the second flight (from Dallas to Sydney, 17 hours). It was Jonah's very first flight and he took it like a champ:) Glad we only have to make this trip one more time in a few years from now!
