Featherdale

We took Grandma and Grandpa to one of our favorite places, Featherdale Wildlife Park. We love feeding the kangaroos and petting the koalas. On this trip Jonah had a battle with one of the little kangaroos over his lunch! The kangaroo smelled his sandwich and was all over Jonah and in his face, which, of course, freaked Jonah out. He started hitting the kangaroo right in the face! I quickly pulled him out of the stroller in case the kangaroo fought back... Jonah for the win!
I can't believe he held a snake!

After the battle, still looking for Jonah's food...

Boat Cruise

We took our chances and went for another boat cruise... Fortunately, this one was a success! The boat was much bigger and we stayed in the harbor so the waves were much smaller! We learned some interesting things about Sydney from the tour guide, and as always, had great views in every direction! And for the second half of the day, a trip to one of our favorite beaches, Manly.

'Matilda'

Doug came up with the idea of reading the book 'Matilda' with the kids and then taking them to the show. We didn't quite make it all the way through the book before going to see it in the theatre because we ran out of time and it was going to be leaving Sydney. The show was great! Really funny and entertaining!

Happy Birthday Doug & Mom

Happy birthday Doug and Mom!! Today started out good too but quickly turned not so good.... We had planned on an adventure cruise but we didn't make it very far on it. The boat was smaller than we thought it would be and the water was much rougher than expected! Three of the kids were crying after about 5 minutes into the trip. Thankfully the crew made a special stop to let us off! It was the best decision!! The weather quickly worsened and even though we were caught in the rain, we were thankful we weren't still on that boat!! Sorry Doug for ruining your birthday plans.... But in true Australian fashion, we quickly realized we had been dropped off in a cool place with good restaurants and great views so some of the day was salvaged!

Breathtaking views everywhere

Bondi Beach and Bluebottle Jellyfish

Our second day of 2016 started out great with a trip to Bondi Beach until two of the boys had run-ins with the Bluebottle Jellyfish. We knew nothing of these little creatures until today. They invade Sydney's beaches annually but only stay for a week or two. Ashton stepped on one that had washed ashore. We didn't know what it was or what had happened when he started crying. It took a stranger to tell us what had happened. Then we started seeing the little blue jellyfish everywhere. Hudson was stung on the arm and on both ankles while he was swimming. It took a little ice and time for the pain to go away. Poor boys!!

Wish we would've noticed this sign earlier....

Soaking his stung foot in cold water

Hudson's stings were really bad!
